Roche SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test Nasal

Roche's SARS-CoV-2 rapid test makes it possible to identify individuals infected with the Coronavirus. The antigen test is packed per 25 pieces and can only be sold individually by pharmacies. They have been granted an exemption, which means that a sample is taken from the inside of the nose using a cotton swab.

The advantage of this test is that the cotton swab does not have to go far in your nose. In addition, you will receive the results within approximately 15 minutes!

The COVID-19 rapid test has a sensitivity of 90.6% and a specificity of 98.6%. This makes the Roche SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test Nasal one of the most reliable self-tests in the Netherlands!

Instructions

Sample Collection

  • Gently insert the soft tip of the swab 2 cm into one nostril until you feel a little resistance.

  • Slowly rub the cotton swab over the inner wall of the nostril 4 times in a circular motion for 15 seconds. Be careful not to apply pressure.

  • Repeat the same procedure with the same cotton swab in the other nostril.

  • Pay attention! It is important that the sample is taken from both nostrils with the same swab.

Treatment of the sample

  • The swab is then placed in an extraction buffer tube.

  • Move the swab back and forth more than 10 times while squeezing the buffer tube. The soaking time of the swab is less than 15 seconds.

  • Remove the swab from the tube and, while doing so, squeeze the tube so that enough liquid is extracted from the swab.

  • Pay attention! Failure to squeeze the tube may cause incorrect test results due to too much buffer in the swab.

  • Finally, press the spout cap firmly onto the tube.

Test procedure

  • Place the test device on a flat surface and add 4 drops of the extracted sample to the sample well of the test cassette.

What does the result of the Corona test say?

  • Positive: Two color bands appear in the observation window. That is, a red or magenta line appears at the position of the quality control line (C line) and the detection line (T line) (as shown in Result 1), indicating that the test result of SARS-CoV-2 antigens in the sample is positive.

  • Negative: A red or magenta line appears at the quality control line (C-line) position in the observation window, and no line appears at the test line (T-line) position (as shown in Result 2), indicating that the test result of the SARS-CoV-2 antigens in the sample is negative, or the concentration is below the detection limit of the kit.

  • Invalid: No line appears in the position of the Quality Control Line (Line C) in the Observation Window (as shown in Result 3), indicating that the test is invalid and the sample must be re-collected and retested.
