FFP2 face masks mandatory to make available
Bijgewerkt op: 6 apr. 2022
On January 26, 2021, the motion was passed asking the government to make FFP2 mouth-nose masks mandatory for healthcare providers. The impetus for this has been given by the V&VN and a number of trade unions.

The V&UN requirement for these qualitative masks to be made available is because the standard of surgical masks is considered to be insufficient. They see that the FFP2 masks provide better protection for nurses and other caregivers when they come into contact with patients. The professional association even states that it should be a standard.
The motion does not yet make the masks mandatory, but obliges employers to make the mouth and nose masks available to its healthcare providers. This is to prevent the more contagious British variant that, according to virologists and OMT members, has a high risk of a third wave.
Besides this, the current working conditions for caregivers are not optimal. The FFP2 masks can offer a solution for a safer and better work situation.
